We are Ursa Mechanica, the VexU robotics team at the University of California, Riverside. We are an official UCR Robotics Club specialized in furthering engineering knowledge and excellence in the field of robotics. We have a proud team of 10+ members who placed in the 90th-percentile at the 2023 Vex World Championship and qualified for 2024 Worlds by winning the most prestigious award, the Excellence Award, at our last competition. In our team, students will have a practical hands-on experience with engineering and science concepts.
Hardware
The hardware team focuses on constructing a functioning robot to complete the given task. With the use of CAD programs, such as Solidworks, we carefully design our robot and build our project. They also create custom parts through 3D printing.
Software
The software team will be using https://pros.cs.purdue.edu/ which is an open-source C/C++ Development software. They work to make sure the robot can be driven manually as well as autonomously.
Business
The business team works to gather funding, maintain an online presence, create merchandise, order parts, and document team progress. They also manage everything to do with competition registration to make sure the team is ready.
